Introduction
Process safety management (PSM) is a disciplined
framework for dealing with incidents that have the
potential to expose large groups of people to chemical
hazards. PSM heightens an awareness of the things that
could go wrong in a chemical plant, oil refinery or
storage facility as a result of process upset,
mechanical failure or human error and provides a system
for avoiding undesirable outcomes. Large scale
industrial accidents involving the release of hazardous
materials present a risk to the chemical industry and to
society as a whole. Mechanical failure, fire, explosion
and toxic dispersion are just a few of the direct
effects of something going wrong in large scale process
operations. These conditions, if unchecked, can further
lead to multiple injuries and fatalities, property
damage, business losses and environmental impact. The
avoidance of process incidents is crucial to success in
modern industry. It has been demonstrated through
repeated analysis that a holistic management system
comprised of several critical activities is required to
prevent, minimize and recover from loss of containment
incidents. It has also been demonstrated that PSM
excellence leads to an improvement in the bottom line.

Our Services
Our specialists have assisted clients throughout the
world in developing and establishing their process
safety management programs. We have also been involved
in auditing and revising in-house programs developed by
clients.
We can provide development,
evaluation, or optimization of administrative safety
management systems associated with all recognized PSM
program elements. We also conduct or assist in OSHA PSM
and EPA RMP compliance assessments.
